Terms of Use

These terms govern every visit, search, and use of the website. Continuing to use it means accepting the conditions below. Anyone who does not accept them should stop using the service.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no affiliation with a local, Illinois, or federal government body. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offer a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Its purpose is to identify official criminal-record resources for Macon County, Illinois. It is not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, independent of every government office. It neither stores official criminal records nor retrieves records, performs official checks, or files papers for a user.

Its content identifies the Macon County Sheriff's Records Division, Circuit Clerk, Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification, Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry, and other sources. Some pages also connect to separately operated search tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

You agree that you will not:

  • Break any federal, state, or local law while using this site
  • Use information you find here to stalk, harass, or threaten anyone
  • Base hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions on content from this site
  • Try to break into our systems or gain access you are not supposed to have
  • Run bots, scrapers, or automated tools against our pages
  • Do anything that slows the site down or blocks other people from using it

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information found here or through a linked tool must not be used to harass, stalk, threaten, intimidate, or discriminate. Illinois law places particular limits on misuse of Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry data. Registry information supports public safety awareness and never authorizes confrontation, vigilantism, or unlawful discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and produces no credit report, background report, or other consumer report. Its information and linked tools may not be used to:

  • Decide whether to hire or fire someone
  • Screen potential renters or housing applicants
  • Judge creditworthiness or set insurance premiums
  • Determine who qualifies for licenses, permits, or government programs
  • Do anything else that falls under FCRA rules

A regulated purpose requires the proper official Illinois State Police route or a qualified FCRA-compliant provider, as applicable.

5. No Legal Advice

The material is not legal advice. General explanations of Macon County records cannot determine how an Illinois charge, conviction, warrant, sealing rule, or expungement rule applies to a particular matter. Consult a licensed Illinois attorney for legal advice.

6. No Warranties

All content and services are provided "as is." No guarantee is made that:

  • The information here is accurate, complete, or current at any given time
  • The site will stay up and running without interruptions
  • Our pages are free of errors, bugs, or security holes
  • Results from our partner search tools will be thorough or accurate

Charges, dispositions, sealing orders, and expungement orders can change the public record. Gaps or delays are possible, and no content here is an official statement by the sheriff, Circuit Clerk, Illinois State Police, or another government office.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links to government offices, court portals, legal resources, and outside search services leave this website. Their operators control availability, pricing, content, and data practices. Review the destination's terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Macon County Criminal History or its content partners. Copying, distributing, adapting, or building on that material requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site is not liable for damages arising from its use, including reliance on information found here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A user agrees to indemnify and hold the site harmless from claims, actions, or demands caused by that user's conduct or breach of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

Illinois law governs these terms, including applicable principles under the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, 815 ILCS 505. The Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, and the Uniform Conviction Information Act, 20 ILCS 2635, govern official records and conviction-information disclosure by the responsible public bodies, not this private site. Any dispute tied to use of the site must be brought in an Illinois court.

12. Changes to These Terms

Revised terms take effect when the updated text is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one term is held invalid or unenforceable, the rest remain effective. The affected language will be adjusted only as much as necessary.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be sent through the Contact page.
